No interior da <a href=\"\/pt-br\/deuses-fenicios\/\">tradi\u00e7\u00e3o fen\u00edcia<\/a>, Mot \u00e9 o deus da morte por excel\u00eancia e antagonista das divindades da vida.<\/p><p>Do ponto de vista da hist\u00f3ria das religi\u00f5es, Mot representa o tipo do personificado da morte, que nas mitologias do antigo Oriente raramente \u00e9 t\u00e3o claramente definido. No mundo mesopot\u00e2mico correspondem-lhe Ere\u0161kigal e Nergal, embora em fun\u00e7\u00f5es distintas; entre os hititas n\u00e3o existe um deus paralelo preciso, mas sim a &#8216;deusa do sol da terra&#8217; como figura ct\u00f4nica-infernal.<\/p><p>O conflito de Mot com Baal n\u00e3o \u00e9 um combate \u00fanico, mas um acontecimento c\u00edclico: Mot derrota Baal na esta\u00e7\u00e3o seca, Anat derrota Mot, Baal regressa com as chuvas.<\/p><p>Esta estrutura\u00e7\u00e3o sazonal torna o <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"Uma narrativa transmitida pela tradi\u00e7\u00e3o sobre deuses, origens e a ordem do mundo.\" tabindex=\"0\">mito<\/span> de Mot um exemplo cl\u00e1ssico de mitologia da vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o e das esta\u00e7\u00f5es do ano. Esta identidade entre o nome divino e a categoria c\u00f3smica \u00e9 caracter\u00edstica da teogonia do antigo Oriente.<\/p><p>Em ac\u00e1dico, o equivalente \u00e9 <em>m\u016btu<\/em> (morte); em hebraico, <em>m\u0101wet<\/em> (com etimologia id\u00eantica, igualmente n\u00e3o personificado de forma prim\u00e1ria como divindade, mas atestado como figura quase m\u00edtica em algumas passagens po\u00e9ticas como J\u00f3 18,13; Os 13,14; Hab 2,5).<\/p><p>Nos textos ugar\u00edticos, Mot aparece sob v\u00e1rios ep\u00edtetos: bn \u02beilm mt &#8216;filho dos deuses, Mot&#8217;, ydd \u02beil \u0121zr &#8216;amado de El, o her\u00f3i&#8217;, mdd \u02beil &#8216;favorito de El&#8217;. Estes ep\u00edtetos designam-no como filho do deus-pai El e sublinham a sua dignidade teol\u00f3gica. Mot n\u00e3o \u00e9 um deus maligno. \u00c9 um filho leg\u00edtimo do deus supremo, com uma fun\u00e7\u00e3o cosmicamente necess\u00e1ria.<\/p><p>No material hebraico, Mot aparece teologicamente reduzido; a <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"O estudo cient\u00edfico de Deus e da cren\u00e7a de uma religi\u00e3o.\" tabindex=\"0\">teologia<\/span> monote\u00edsta n\u00e3o pode aceitar um deus da morte independente a par de Jav\u00e9.
