Dok houngan slu\u017ei loa duhovima i lije\u010di zajednicu, bokor slu\u017ei samome sebi i tamnim silama.<\/p><p>Njegovo znanje je stvarno i strahovito: otrovi, rituali iskorjenjivanja, zombifikacija, crna magija. Wade Davis u svojim istra\u017eivanjima o zombifikaciji opisuje bokora kao specijalista koji djeluje izvan redovite hramske hijerarhije i koji se dovodi u vezu s tajnim dru\u0161tvima kao \u0161to je Bizango. Sli\u010dni nazivi za ambivalentne obredne stru\u010dnjake pojavljuju se u mnogim afro-karipskim tradicijama, primjerice obeah-\u010dovjek u englesko govornom podru\u010dju Kariba.<\/p><p>Rije\u010d bokor (kreolski b\u00f2k\u00f2) u hai\u0107anskom vodu ozna\u010dava \u010darobnjaka koji, prema uvrije\u017eenom izrazu, \u201eradi obje ruke&#8221;, odnosno nudi i iscjeliteljske i \u0161tetne usluge. Pojam se \u010desto izvodi iz zapadnoafri\u010dkih korijena, primjerice iz naziva za vra\u010da i obrednog stru\u010dnjaka u jeziku fon u Dahomeju.
