O rei Gesar de Ling (en tibetano Gling Ge-sar rgyal-po) \u00e9 o gobernante m\u00edtico da epopea nacional tibetana e consid\u00e9rase a figura heroica central da tradici\u00f3n narrativa da \u00c1sia interior.<\/p><p>A epopea de Gesar, con m\u00e1is dun mill\u00f3n de versos nas s\u00faas versi\u00f3ns completas, \u00e9 probablemente a epopea viva m\u00e1is longa do mundo, e en 2009 foi inclu\u00edda na Lista do Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial da UNESCO. A. Stein, en \u00abRecherches sur l&#8217;\u00e9pop\u00e9e et le barde au Tibet\u00bb (1959), analizou a complexidade da historia textual e mostrou que a epopea existe en numerosas versi\u00f3ns rexionais, algunhas moi diferentes entre si. A forma canonizada, transmitida hoxe nas bibliotecas mon\u00e1sticas tibetanas, comprende xeralmente entre 30 e 120 volumes.<\/p>\n\n<p>Per S\u00f8rensen e Andreas Gruschke, nos seus traballos sobre historia e xeograf\u00eda tibetanas, examinaron a conexi\u00f3n da epopea con espazos xeogr\u00e1ficos concretos no leste do Tibet (Kham, Amdo) e nas rexi\u00f3ns fronteirizas con Sichuan, Qinghai e Gansu.<\/p><p>O reino de Ling, onde reina Gesar, relaci\u00f3nase coa rexi\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica arredor do curso alto do r\u00edo Amarelo, a\u00ednda que non se logra unha identificaci\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica inequ\u00edvoca. Gesar nace como fillo do deus Brahma e da muller humana Gogmo.<\/p><p>O seu nome terreal \u00e9 Joru, e a s\u00faa infancia est\u00e1 marcada pola humillaci\u00f3n e o menosprezo. S\u00f3 nunha carreira de cabalos, que ga\u00f1a contra todo progn\u00f3stico, \u00e9 reco\u00f1ecido como rei de Ling e adopta o nome real de Gesar.<\/p>\n\n<p>As partes principais da epopea consisten en 18 chamadas \u00abconquistas\u00bb (\u00abdgra &#8216;dul\u00bb), nas que Gesar loita contra demos, tiranos e reis inimigos e somete os seus territorios ao budismo.<\/p><p>Entre os episodios m\u00e1is co\u00f1ecidos figuran a conquista de Hor (no norte), a conquista de Mon (no sur), a conquista de Jang (no leste) e a conquista final da fortaleza de ferro na fronteira chinesa. Nunha capa tard\u00eda, parcialmente espec\u00edfica das tradici\u00f3ns ge-lug-pa e nyingma-pa, relaci\u00f3nase con Padmasambhava e con pr\u00e1cticas t\u00e1ntricas.<\/p><p>Esta estratificaci\u00f3n explica as tensi\u00f3ns dentro das versi\u00f3ns transmitidas.<\/p>\n\n<p>A identificaci\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica de Gesar co C\u00e9sar chin\u00e9s (mediada polo persa e o uigur como \u00abKesar\u00bb) \u00e9 unha hip\u00f3tese m\u00e1is antiga de Stein e outros, sustentada por coincidencias fon\u00e9ticas pero non por probas hist\u00f3ricas claras.<\/p><p>Outros investigadores, entre eles Lauran Hartley e Pema Bhum, situ\u00e1n o n\u00facleo hist\u00f3rico de Gesar m\u00e1is ben nun rei local tibetano real do s\u00e9culo XI ou XII, elevado \u00e1 categor\u00eda de figura lexendaria. Investigaci\u00f3ns de Hu Jinpu, Yang Enhong e Lauran Hartley documentaron detalladamente esta pr\u00e1ctica cultural.<\/p>\n\n<p>A duraci\u00f3n da interpretaci\u00f3n dunha versi\u00f3n completa pode abarcar varias semanas. Sobre todo na escola nyingma-pa e nalgunhas li\u00f1axes kagy\u00fc, Gesar \u00e9 considerado unha manifestaci\u00f3n guerreira de Padmasambhava e protector da doutrina.<\/p><p>En s\u00faa honra cel\u00e9branse pr\u00e1cticas de protecci\u00f3n (gsol-kha) e rituais (fumigaci\u00f3ns sang). Donald Lopez, en \u00abPrisoners of Shangri-La\u00bb (1998), esbozou o papel de Gesar na relixiosidade tibetana moderna e mostrou como \u00e9 empregado por movementos pol\u00edticos como <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"Un signo que representa unha idea ou significado.\" tabindex=\"0\">s\u00edmbolo<\/span> nacional.<\/p>\n\n<p>Robert Thurman, nos seus traballos sobre a <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"O conxunto das narraci\u00f3ns m\u00edticas transmitidas por unha cultura.\" tabindex=\"0\">mitolox\u00eda<\/span> tibetana, sinalou a ambig\u00fcidade da figura de Gesar: combina o papel de heroe guerreiro, protecci\u00f3n sacra, memoria social e identidade pol\u00edtica.
