Il est li\u00e9 au bois du navire, car selon la croyance, l&rsquo;\u00e2me d&rsquo;un enfant mort-n\u00e9 ou non baptis\u00e9, enterr\u00e9 sous un arbre, passe dans le navire par le bois de construction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Action<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En tant qu&rsquo;esprit protecteur, il colmate invisiblement les fuites, pompe l&rsquo;eau, arrange le lest, rebouche les fissures et effectue des r\u00e9parations nocturnes ; il avertit en frappant et prot\u00e8ge contre la maladie, le feu et les pirates. En cas de paresse de l&rsquo;\u00e9quipage, il joue des tours. Point critique cependant : il ne se montre que lorsque le navire est perdu ; son apparition visible \u00e9tait le signe le plus redout\u00e9 chez les
