Il est ancr\u00e9 au Y\u00e9men et dans les r\u00e9gions c\u00f4ti\u00e8res de l&rsquo;\u00c9gypte ; son mode d&rsquo;action est l&rsquo;attaque : il attire les voyageurs et les agresse.<\/p>\n<p>C&rsquo;est en m\u00eame temps un \u00eatre dont la base documentaire est mince. La premi\u00e8re attestation se trouve chez al-Qazwini au 13e si\u00e8cle, et tout ce qui vient apr\u00e8s repose essentiellement sur ce seul passage bref. L&rsquo;issue va de la peur mortelle \u00e0 l&rsquo;agression, le trait unique mentionn\u00e9 par al-Qazwini pouvant \u00eatre mortel.
