Le Coran les mentionne en de nombreux endroits comme s\u00e9ducteurs, inspirateurs (<em>muwaswis\u016bn<\/em>), perturbateurs de la foi.<\/p><p>Ils n&rsquo;agissent pas par la violence physique, mais par le <em>waswasa<\/em> : le doux murmure dans le c\u0153ur humain, qui fait na\u00eetre le doute, la col\u00e8re, la convoitise, l&rsquo;orgueil ou l&rsquo;apathie.<\/p><p>Contrairement aux Jinn en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, les Shayatin ne sont plus moralement ambigus. Ils sont clairement mauvais. Leur pouvoir est cependant limit\u00e9 : ils ne peuvent s&rsquo;en prendre qu&rsquo;aux hommes qui n\u00e9gligent Dieu. \u00c0 l&rsquo;invocation de Dieu, ils reculent. Tandis que les Djinns en tant que genre englobent des repr\u00e9sentants croyants et incroyants, inoffensifs et dangereux, les <em>schayatin<\/em> seraient ceux qui se sont tourn\u00e9s vers le mal.<\/p><p>Iblis lui-m\u00eame est explicitement rattach\u00e9 aux Djinns dans un verset coranique, ce qui soutient cette interpr\u00e9tation. Elle est notamment prononc\u00e9e avant la r\u00e9citation coranique.
