La posesi\u00f3n suele remontarse a la magia negra usada de forma indebida: seg\u00fan la tradici\u00f3n, un hechicero que abusa de f\u00f3rmulas oscuras o se atreve a realizar ritos prohibidos es \u00e9l mismo pose\u00eddo por el Phi Pop y afligido por un hambre insaciable de entra\u00f1as crudas. La creencia est\u00e1 especialmente viva en el noreste rural de Tailandia, el Isaan, y ha tenido consecuencias sociales Los s\u00edntomas de la posesi\u00f3n son un comportamiento err\u00e1tico, agresi\u00f3n s\u00fabita y ansia de carne cruda. En zonas rurales, las sospechas de que alguien albergaba un Phi Pop llevaron a la exclusi\u00f3n y a la violencia contra las
