A diferencia de los esp\u00edritus temidos de esta colecci\u00f3n, los Egungun conforman un culto ancestral venerado y ben\u00e9volo: religi\u00f3n vivida, no un peligro.<\/p>\n<p>Los trajes son llevados exclusivamente por hombres de linajes iniciados, mientras que las mujeres contribuyen a la fiesta con cantos de alabanza, oraciones y ofrendas. La capa m\u00e1s interior, de tela a rayas \u00edndigo y blanco, se asemeja al sudario, y sobre ella se disponen retazos de tela multicolores, bordados, conchas, cuentas y amuletos con capacidad protectora. La vestimenta suntuosa se\u00f1ala estatus y poder ancestral.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Efecto<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mediante el tambor y la danza, se considera que los portadores est\u00e1n pose\u00eddos por los esp\u00edritus ancestrales y los manifiestan de forma corp\u00f3rea. En la danza giratoria, los retazos ondulantes generan una brisa de bendici\u00f3n. Las mascaradas se dirigen a las viviendas familiares para bendecir o castigar a los descendientes, y purifican a la comunidad al exhibir el comportamiento \u00e9tico o poco \u00e9tico ocurrido desde
