La poes\u00eda concibe a la dr\u00edade como la mujer del \u00e1rbol: saliendo del tronco, con follaje en el cabello, con los colores de la corteza y las hojas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Efecto<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Las dr\u00edades cuidan \u00e1rboles, arboledas y las fuentes que all\u00ed brotan. Para la gente del campo eran dadoras de sombra, agua y buena prosperidad. Su lado oscuro es el castigo por los sacrilegios: en Ovidio, las dr\u00edades presentan la queja cuando Erisict\u00f3n tala la encina sagrada de Dem\u00e9ter, y la diosa lo castiga con un hambre insaciable.
