Lloyd Warner first documented this narrative systematically in <em>A Black Civilization<\/em> (1937).<\/p><p>In the Kunwinjku tradition (western Arnhem Land), Ngalyod shapes the landscape by travelling through the territory during the <em>Dreaming<\/em> time, leaving rivers, mountains, and waterholes behind with its body. This creation <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"The totality of the transmitted divine narratives of a culture.\" tabindex=\"0\">mythology<\/span> is a classic example of Aboriginal topography: landscape as the material result of mythic movement.<\/p><p>Among the Noongar (southwestern Western Australia), the story is told of how Wagyl descended from the mountains and formed the Swan River that flows through Perth today.
