An old witch with iron teeth, thin legs, and a long nose that touches the stove or the ceiling, she lives in a hut on chicken legs deep in the forest.<\/p><p>She flies in a mortar, propelling it with a pestle and sweeping away her tracks with a broom. She may devour humans, or send heroines and heroes on their way with irreplaceable gifts.<\/p><p><span data-nosnippet>Her ambivalence is the central motif.
