The Tuatha D\u00e9 Danann are gods who withdrew into the S\u00eddhe mounds.<\/p><p>Characteristic is the <strong>connection to the landscape<\/strong>: <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"Belonging to the divine and thereby withdrawn from everyday use.\" tabindex=\"0\">sacred<\/span> springs, trees, hills and <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"The threshold phase in a transition between two states, such as between life and death, waking and dreaming.\" tabindex=\"0\">liminal<\/span> places (between land and sea, forest and field) carry religious significance. Festivals such as Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane and Lughnasa structure the year. Central divine figures are the Dagda (all-father), Lugh (craft, war), Brigid (healing, fire, poetry) and the Morrigan (war, fate).<\/p><p>The Sidhe concept describes supernatural beings who dwell in hills and hidden realms. Christianisation from the 5th to the 12th century displaced the practice; some deities were repurposed as saints (Brigid becomes Saint Brigid). The Celtic Revival of the 19th century attempted a romanticised reconstruction. Cultural identity in Ireland and Scotland uses Celtic symbols as markers of nationalism rather than as a genuine faith
