Jibril (Gabriel) delivers revelations, Mikail (Michael) is the <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"In the Abrahamic religions, a heavenly messenger being of God.\" tabindex=\"0\">angel<\/span> of weather and provision, Israfil blows the trumpet on the Day of Judgement, and Azrail is the angel of death.<\/p><p>They have no free will; they only carry out Allah&#8217;s commands. For this reason the veneration of <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"In the Abrahamic religions, a heavenly messenger being of God.\" tabindex=\"0\">angels<\/span> is forbidden.<\/p><p>The <strong>jinn<\/strong>, by contrast, are free beings with will and responsibility; they can be believing or unbelieving, good or evil. They live in parallel with the human world and can conceal themselves or appear in animal form.<\/p><p>In popular <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"The academic discipline that studies religions comparatively and without confessional commitment.\" tabindex=\"0\">religion<\/span>, very different regional conceptions of beings have developed from this: ghul, ifrit, marid, and the &#8220;<span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"Widespread notion that an envious gaze from another person can cause harm.\" tabindex=\"0\">evil eye<\/span>&#8221; (the eye of envy). Alongside this exists a pre-Islamic Arabian tradition concerning the <em>jinn<\/em>: beings made of fire, with intelligence, free will and moral responsibility.<\/p><p>According to Islamic <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"The doctrine recognised as orthodox.\" tabindex=\"0\">orthodoxy<\/span>, they are neither gods nor <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"A spiritual being to which harmful or ambivalent effect is attributed.\" tabindex=\"0\">demons<\/span>.
