In the Germanic context there are reports of spirits of the dead who avenge a murder by repeatedly appearing before a court and pointing to their punishment.<\/p><p>In the European Middle Ages, skeletons walled up with &#8220;curses of revenge&#8221; were found: human remains used as a magical binding. In Haiti and the Vodou context, a <em>Zombi<\/em> or summoned spirits can be employed as tools of revenge against enemies.<\/p><div><h3>East Asian lines of <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"The passing on of knowledge and narratives across generations.\" tabindex=\"0\">tradition<\/span>: Japanese Onryo and Korean Cheonyeo-gwishin<\/h3><p>In East Asian Buddhism and <span class=\"iwg-fachbegriff\" data-tooltip=\"The indigenous religion of Japan, shaped by the veneration of the kami.\" tabindex=\"0\">Shinto<\/span>, similar concepts emerged.
