The sacred hearth fire, the golomt, at the centre of the yurt is regarded as the most sacred place and the seat of the fire deity; offerings are made to it and strict purity taboos are observed.<\/p>\n<p>The figure is predominantly transmitted through ethnographic and oral tradition; individual fire taboos, however, are already attested in the 13th century.
