Latvian house spirit: a caretaker of the house, the household community and the fertility of the fields. It ensures blessing as long as it is provided for and honoured; neglect leads to misfortune, illness of the master of the house, fire and death.<\/p>\n<p>To be fair in its classification: the evidence is thin and at times shaped by national-romantic overlay; the treasure-bringing P\u016b\u0137is is the more sharply documented Latvian house spirit.
