The lion-headed <a href=\"https:\/\/iwell-guard.com\/pakhet\/\">Pakhet<\/a> ruled over the desert ravines along the Nile bank, while <a href=\"https:\/\/iwell-guard.com\/sopdu\/\">Sopdu<\/a> was invoked as guardian of the eastern desert borderland against Bedouins and foreign influences. In Mesopotamia, the demon <a href=\"https:\/\/iwell-guard.com\/asag\/\">Asag<\/a> embodied the destructive force of drought and devastated land.<\/p>\n<p>Jewish tradition knows the <a href=\"https:\/\/iwell-guard.com\/se-irim\/\">Se&#8217;irim<\/a>, goat-like desert spirits of the Hebrew Bible, as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/iwell-guard.com\/ketev-meriri\/\">Ketev Meriri<\/a>, a terror being associated with the midday heat of the desert.
